Court sentences two to death by hanging.

A judge in the osun state high court, Justice Jude Falola, has on Friday sentenced two men to death by handing for the crime of murder.

Justice Falola pronounced his judgment stating how the prosecutors have proved beyond reasonable doubt the culpability of the suspects, Orisakunle Abiodun, 21; and Opadokun Olayinka, 29, in the murder of a Mathew Adeoye in ikirun.

While being arraigned in court, the state counsel, Mr Philips Afolayan stated that their offence was punishable under Section 324 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. 34, Vol. 2, Laws of Osun State and Section 316 (1) and punishable under Section 319 (1) of the same Criminal Code Law of Osun State.

He further went on to narrate what happened on the day the deceased was murdered, he said the deceased was hit by the motorcycle of one of the convicts, Abiodun.

An argument ensured between all parties; the deceased and the defendants, the deceased was beaten to an inch of his life and was later taken to the hospital where he died shortly.

The Defence counsel pleaded with the judge to be lenient with his sentencing.
